Help Chad Emery's Fight Against Pulmonary Fibrosis

Donation protected
I am Michelle Lawson. I truly appreciate you taking the time to read the story about, a fellow colleague and friend- Chad Emery.
Chad has recently undergone a double lung transplant at Ohio State University. I often tell Chad he is like a brother to me. One of the most genuine people I know. Chad is the first one to lend a helping hand. Now it’s time for us to be there for Chad. I am appealing to the hearts and kindness of my fellow company co-workers, friends and family to help. Something like this can happen to any one of us at any time, tomorrow is not promised to anyone. As Chad recovers, his return to work is unknown. All donations will support with medical bills and living expenses. We are incredibly grateful for any support you can provide. Every donation, big or small, is most appreciated.

Chad and Lisa Emery have been married for almost 27 years but have known each other since they were 14 and 15 years old! They have two children. Colin is 21 and has just completed his sophomore year at SCAD (Savannah College of Art in Design) in Savannah, Georgia. Bridget is entering her senior year at Kings High School. It sounds cliche, but family truly is the most important thing to Chad and Lisa, and their family is their life.

Two years ago, as Chad was approaching his 50th birthday, he made the decision to commit to a healthier lifestyle in anticipation of living another thirty years. Over the course of a year, he worked diligently on losing weight and exercising. On Father's Day, 2023, he took a morning hike with his son, Colin, and he noticed that he was significantly out of breath. He assumed he needed to work more on his fitness, but as the summer continued, he felt increased breathlessness. After several doctor's appointments, tests and a lung biopsy, he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis in October 2023. By early December he was on full time oxygen. As his condition worsened at an alarming rate, it was determined that the only hope for his survival would be a lung transplant.

In January, Chad began the lengthy process of qualifying for a lung transplant at Ohio State University. The staff were amazing and despite his rapid decline, Chad stayed the course, as it was his only hope for survival. On Monday, May 27th, Chad and Lisa received the call they had been waiting for- a donor was available. On Tuesday, May 28th, Chad successfully underwent a double lung transplant. He continues to fight and recover at OSU.
