Help Dodo Recover from Intervertebral Disc Disease

Hello everyone.

As some of you may know already, Dodo, a French Bulldog adopted into my friend, Emi's family, suddenly had a seizure on July 1, and as a result of an emergency examination, he was diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). Dodo is still young at 1 year and 10 months old and has a long life ahead of him, but with the disease, Emi's family is very worried about the high medical costs (x-rays, MRI, surgery, rehabilitation).

Originally, Dodo was taken care of by Emi's family while my friend and her ex-boyfriend were unable to take care of Dodo for three months. However, that period was later extended by four months, and eventually, when they were no longer able to keep Dodo, Emi's family accepted to become Dodo's foster parents on June 20th, 10 days before this incident happened.

Before being taken in by Emi's family, Dodo's upbringing was very bad, and he was confined to a small cage in a corner of a shared house for eight people all day long. He had no experience of being walked outside by his owner, so in the beginning, when he went out for walks, he would become unusually wary and frightened at the slightest noise or passing other dogs. After moving to Emi's home, Dodo gradually changed, and by the time two months had passed, he was happily running around outside. He seemed to regain his lost emotions. Seeing him so happy, I am so glad that Emi and her family took him in.

It was a very short time feeling relieved until he was diagnosed with IVDD, so I wanted to do something to help them, and that is why I am raising funds for this cause.

Emi enrolled in a dog insurance right after she accepted Dodo, but since this tragedy happened during the first 14 days of the insurance waiting period, she was forced to pay the full amount. In the future, this disease will be a pre-existing condition and there is no dog insurance that will cover it.

The former owner has neglected Dodo for the past 8 months since the owner left him with us and also they have no intention of supporting us in this matter. Along with this procedure, Emi has already paid $1,500 for emergency exams, and Dodo is scheduled to have MRI and surgery at Canada West on July 20th. The total cost of the examination, MRI, surgery, hospitalization, and rehabilitation will be between $9,500 and $12,000, depending on the complications.

皆さん、こんにちは。

ご存知の方もいらっしゃると思いますが、私の友達であるエミさん家族に引き取られたフレンチブルドックのドドが7月1日に突然発作を起こし、緊急検査の結果、「椎間板ヘルニア（IVDD）」と診断されました。ドドは1歳10ヶ月とまだ若く、これから先の長い犬の人生ですが、この病気の発症により、ドドの世話をしているエミさん家族は、そのタイミングとドドの介護、そして高額な医療費（レントゲン、MRI、手術、リハビリ）に見舞われています。

元々ドドは、私の友人と元彼氏が3ヶ月間ドドの世話ができない間、エミさんの家族が世話をしてくれていました。しかし、その後その期間は4ヶ月延長され、結局、彼らがドドを飼うことができなくなったと、今回のアクシデントの10日前の6月20日にエミさんの家族がドドの里親になることを受け入れてくれました。

エミさん家族に引き取られる以前のドドの育った環境は酷く、8人のシェアハウスの一角に置かれた小さなケージの中に一日中ずっと閉じ込められていました。飼い主に外に散歩に連れて行ってもらう経験もあまりなかったため、初めのうちは、外へ散歩に出ると小さな物音や他の犬たちとすれ違うだけで異常なまでに警戒し、怯えてしまう程でした。エミさんのところへ移ってからはドドも少しずつ変わっていって、2ヵ月が経つ頃には、うれしそうに思いっきり外を駆け回るまでにもなりました。幸せそうなドドを見て、私もエミさんたちに引き取られて本当によかったと思っています。

安心したつかの間の出来事だったので、私も何とか力になりたいと思い、こうして募金を募らせていただいています。

エミさんはドドを受け入れた直後に犬の保険に加入しましたが、保険が効かない加入後の14日の間にこの悲劇が起こってしったため、全額を負担せざるを得なくなってしまいました。今後、この病気は既往症となり、カバーをしてくれる犬保険はないそうです。

元飼い主である彼らはドドを預けてからの8カ月、ドドを気にかけることもなく、この件についてサポートする意思も全くありません...。

今回の施術に伴い、エミさんは既に緊急検査に13万円を支払っていて、ドドは7月20日にCanada WestでMRI＋手術を受けることになっています。診察費、MRI、手術費、入院費、リハビリ費の合計金額は、合併症にもよりますが、83万から112万円になるとのことです。

エミさんのご家族とドドの明るい未来のために、少しでもお心遣いいただけると嬉しいです。
