Help Ease Steve Bird's Medical Burden

Dear Friends, Family, Classmates & Co-workers,

I am reaching out to you with a hopeful heart and a sense of urgency.

Our good friend Steve Bird has been very ill and hospitalized for the better part of the last seven months. He has suffered severe complications from diverticulitis and the journey has been incredibly difficult for both Steve and his fiancé, Kristi Matheson.

Steve has been through two major surgeries, including having a portion of his colon removed. There have been numerous procedures, medical errors and countless setbacks leading to constant medical care that continues today.

Because of these complications Steve has been unable to work since the first week in December. Unfortunately, he doesn't have disability insurance and the medical bills and living expenses are overwhelming and created an incredible financial burden. They have been forced to place their home on the market which is heartbreaking.

I am asking for your help to raise $80,000 to help Steve and Kristi ease the financial burden of the mounting medical bills, escalating debt and daily living expenses. Steve's pride has kept him from asking people for help, but I know, as a community, we can rally and make a difference.

Steve is a proud alumnus of Edmond Memorial High School, Class of '83. He was a standout baseball player that played three years in college before being drafted in the 6th round of the 1986 MLB draft. He went on to play 4 years in the Cleveland organization before changing careers in 1990.

I am asking for your compassion and generosity to help Steve and Kristi. Please donate whatever you can and share this message with others who might be able to help. Every contribution, regardless of size, will help relieve some of the stress.
