Environmental Health Watch has worked in Cleveland, Ohio and Cuyahoga County for over 35 years to reduce and eliminate health hazards from peoples homes.
Our mission is to create healthy homes and sustainable communities by indentifying and removing hazards, engaging people and advancing equitable environmental solutions. We want a future where all children , families and individuals are living in healthy homes and sustainable communities.
EHW is the only environmental organization in Cuyahoga County providing direct service in familie's homes reducing lead hazards and asthma triggers. We use our technical expertise and experiences to influencing policy and decision makers.
We have had a lot of successes over the years, but we are a small non-profit, funding changes and need operating support to continue pushing for lead poisoning prevention policies that will make the most impact for the families we serve. We can't survive without funding to pay for staff time and other expenses that keep the organizaton afloat.
Al Jazeera and the New York Times came to Cleveland to talk with EHW about the lead poisoning crisis. "Poison in Our Walls" is a 30 min. documentary that highlights our work and the families who are suffering everyday from lead poisoning.
EHW is advocating, helping to lead and push for a proactive housing inspection policy for the City of Cleveland, but we need your support to help children and famlies and to keep our doors open.
