It is with great joy and pride that I introduce my friend of 7 years and Co-founder of Tropical Almond LLC https://www.tropicalalmond.com/ . When I met Emmanuel, his conversations were fascinating and intellectually stimulating but I believe what actually drew me to him was his vision for making something out of underutilized crops in Ghana.
Emmanuel is a social entrepreneur who believes in utilizing abandoned and underutilized crops to make a difference in his community. In his final year, Emmanuel worked tirelessly researching on the benefits of the tropical almond tree - a tree that has been abandoned in Ghana despite its numerous health benefits. In rural communities in Ghana, there 1,000s of tropical almond trees that produce over 50,000 tonnes of nutritious fruits. However, due to lack of understanding, inhabitants of these communities either dispose of the fruits or cut the trees down. Ironically, in these same communities, 1 out of 7 children die out of malnutrition and hunger.
Stirred up by these facts and the overwhelming realization of the good tropical almond trees can bring to poor communities, Emmanuel was unperturbed when his lecturers and friends advised him to change his research topic. This passion birthed TropicalAlmond LLC; the company that is bringing hope to many single mothers. At TropicalAlmond LLC, we hire single mothers who collect nuts (from the tropical almond trees), which would otherwise have gone to waste, we convert them into 100% natural oils and snacks and then donate some of these snacks to malnourished children in rural communities.
To date, through Emmanuel’s management, TropicalAlmond LLC has been able to:
1. Provide jobs for over 100 single mothers like Millicent who lost her source of income during the COVID-19 pandemic (see video).
2. Save 1000s of tropical almond trees.
3. Feed malnourished children who live in rural communities in Ghana, through our Buy-One-Give-One program.
4. Sell 100% effective natural oil for the skin and hair and this product is receiving tons of testimonials.
As a colleague and friend of Emmanuel who has seen first-hand how he gives himself to the needs of others, I am organizing this campaign to raise a sum of $40,000 that will go toward his tuition, accommodation and stipend for his 2 years of schooling.
By donating to this campaign and helping Emmanuel achieve a Master’s Degree in Agricultural Economics, Management and Marketing, you will also be helping TropicalAlmond save more trees, feed more children and empower more women.
