Help find Blyth Beach Lifeguards a New Home

Donation protected
In 1961, following the drowning of a member of the public at Blyth Beach during a period without a lifeguard service, Blyth Lifeguard and Swimming Club initiated a voluntary lifeguard service to protect visitors to Blyth Beach.

For over 60 years, this volunteer lifeguard service has kept the public safe. Sixteen years ago, a purpose-built lifeguard station, the Dave Stephens Centre, was constructed on Blyth Promenade.

However, this afternoon (23rd June 2024) marks a sad milestone in the club’s history. Through no fault of their own, the lifeguards have been evicted from the building designed and built for them to make space for other commercial services. This means that Blyth Beach is now without a lifeguard service.

FSNE Medical, a sponsor of Blyth Lifeguard & Swimming Club, is asking for your support to keep our children, families, and friends safe at Blyth Beach by ensuring that Blyth Lifeguards can continue to save lives.

We are looking to raise funds to help the volunteers purchase new facilities, such as portacabins, to enable their vital service to continue.
