On Wednesday February 3rd 2021, Keeley Shields-Balyk was notified by the Niagara Regional Police that her mother Karen Louise Shields had passed away unexpectedly in her home. The cause and time of death are yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing.
This news came as a brutal shock to Karen's only child Keeley. She is overwhelmed with trying to put the funeral together and deal with her emotional and mental health. She now faces extreme financial burdens as she begins to pick up the pieces.
These expenses include:
-Packing up Karen's belongings for storage before the end of February
-Storage and moving fees
-Cleaning the apartment
-Paying one more month for Karen’s phone bill in order to wrap up her affairs
-Vet expenses for Wishbone, Karen’s siamese cat
-Legal and estate costs
One of the expenses Keeley is facing is the care of her mom's cat Wishbone, who is in desperate need of medical attention after being without care for almost a month following the unattended passing of Keeley's mother. Wishbone is the sweetest most affectionate baby, who doesn't know why her Mama laid down and never got up. She drank all the toilet water, and nibbled on what she could find in the kitchen. When she was discovered, she was severely malnourished and underweight. She requires immediate veterinary care.
Though we're all going through hard times with the current pandemic, any amount of money that can be contributed, no matter how small, will be a blessing for Keeley in this time of upheaval.
Zachari Shubin and Jaycee Pauline are coordinating the relief efforts, and ensuring Keeley and Wishbone receive the services and care they need. Feel free to reach out to them for any verification of expenses. All receipts will be made available upon request.
