Help for Lucy’s IVDD Surgery

Hey, my name is Iryna, and I’m fundraising for our 4 year old french bulldog, named Lucy.

Yesterday Lucy was diagnosed with IVDD

( intervertebral disc disease). It was a huge shock for us, when she suddenly lost all the function of her back legs, as well , as control of her bladder.

On Sunday , during the day , she was still good, she walked , behaved completely as usual ( that what we thought ) But right now, when I’m trying to replay that day once again , I realized, that she wasn’t. She couldn’t jump on the coach, was laying down almost all the day, she didn’t eat her food, but she still was able to walk. In the evening, we returned home after the Thanksgiving dinner, and Lucy’s back legs just became paralyzed and without any signs of motion. We called the emergency Vet Clinic and at 9P.M drove her there. They gave her some pain relief pills, as she was in pain. The nurse said that her back legs are paralyzed, but she still can feel them ( so they said it’s about 80% of the chance for the recovery)

Next day, they told us, that the surgery and MRI is estimated to be between $7000 to 8500$ , depends on the complications that can be, during the surgery.

They said she needs her surgery as soon as possible, as she has some problems with her bladder, due to the slipped disc in her back ( right now she can’t go pie, they are expressing her bladder) And, as she has pretty good chance for recovery, they recommended to do the surgery as soon as possible, while she still can feel her legs, and doesn’t have completely paralyzed.

This have been a very stressful days and if anyone has ever had the experience with IVDD and can offer any advice for post recovery or any other help, we would greatly appreciate that.
