Introduction
We are reaching out to you with an urgent plea to support the Abu Deeb family, who have been devastated by the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Haneen Abu Deeb, a widow, is caring for her children and her sister's children, making up a family of 26. Their home in Khan Younis was destroyed, and they now live in tents. This campaign aims to raise $50,000 to provide them with basic necessities and help them rebuild their lives.
The Family
Haneen Abu Deeb (28 years old): A devoted mother and sister, born in 1996, who lost her husband in the war and now supports her sisters and her larger family.
Mahmoud (7 years old): Loves soccer and dreams of traveling abroad to play with a sports team in the European Union.
Zain (5 years old): Loves life, enjoys learning, and has a passion for learning the English language.
Qassem (1 year old): He just wants to play and fun but he has been deprived of his simplest rights.
The extended family includes numerous children and relatives who rely on Haneen for their daily needs and support.
Our Situation
Hello everyone, we are the family of Haneen Abujami from the Gaza Strip. While these words convey our story, they cannot fully express the pain we feel inside. Like any human being, we had ambitions and dreams of a happy and secure life, far from fear, threats, and destruction, but all of that has disappeared.
Seven months ago, the devastating war on Gaza began. In the first days of the aggression, our house in Khan Younis was bombed. We were forced to leave our home and sought shelter elsewhere, but that house was also destroyed. I lost one of my sisters and her daughters, and several family members were injured, including my brother Ahmed who came from Algeria the day before the start of the war. He was placed in the morgue, but a dedicated doctor managed to save his life despite his critical condition. He remained in a coma for three months and now, although he has woken up, he needs constant medication and surgeries. He has been discharged from the hospital and is living with us in our tent.
Our memories and dreams were shattered, and we lost everything we had. We are surrounded by danger from all sides, facing displacement, disease, inhumanity, insecurity, continuous hunger, and pollution.
We have been displaced multiple times, each move adding to our trauma and suffering. After months of displacement, we returned to Khan Younis and are now living in a tent. The conditions are dire, and we are constantly exposed to danger.
Our campaign is urgent; we have no money left due to the loss of our income and the high cost of living. Most of our essential needs are not available, and when they are, they are priced ten times higher than usual.
We want to rebuild our lives and continue to pursue our dreams and ambitions away from this danger and hardship. We have no one left to help us in this ordeal.
These are some images of our daily struggle.

How the Money Will Be Used
We are seeking to raise $50,000, which will be used to provide the following necessities, taking into account the GoFundMe fees:
Food and Water ($19,000)
This will cover the cost of essential groceries, ensuring we have enough to eat and drink for at least six months. Given the high prices and scarcity of food, this amount is crucial.
Hygiene Supplies ($8,000)
Funds will be used to purchase hygiene products such as soap, toothpaste, sanitary pads, and cleaning supplies, which are essential for maintaining health in such challenging conditions.
Medical Supplies and Healthcare ($10,000)
This will help us access necessary medical care and medications, especially for my brother and those injured in the conflict.
Shelter Improvement ($11,000)
Although we live in tents, we need materials to reinforce them against weather conditions and improve our living conditions.
GoFundMe Fees ($2,000)
Based on the GoFundMe fee structure (30p + 2.9% per donation), with an average donation of $15, we account for transaction fees to ensure the full amount needed for the above expenses is available. Calculating $15 donations, the fee per donation is $0.735, approximately 4.9% of each donation ($0.735/$15).
This comprehensive breakdown ensures transparency and helps donors understand exactly how their contributions will be used to support the Abu Deeb family.
Personal Connection and Trust
My name is Karen Schoemer, a poet and author in upstate New York, U.S.A. I met Haneen through her Instagram account where she documents her daily struggle. Through heartbreaking video and text conversations and exchanges of photos, I've learned about the immense struggles the Abu Deeb family is facing, and have been moved to organize this campaign on her behalf. All funds will be sent to the family through the local exchange office’s PayPal account, ensuring that every dollar reaches them directly and quickly.
Your generous contributions can make a life-changing difference for the Abu Deeb family. Every dollar you donate brings us closer to stability and hope. We understand that times are tough for everyone, but any amount you can give will go a long way in helping us rebuild our lives. Your support means everything to us, and we are deeply grateful for your kindness and compassion.
If you have any questions or would like to offer additional support, please feel free to contact us. Your compassion is our beacon of hope in these challenging times.
