Help Help Me Overcome Financial Hardship and Care for My Mom

Dear friends and kind-hearted supporters,

My name is Alex and I'm reaching out to you in a time of immense need and desperation. Life has dealt me a series of heavy blows, and I am now at a point where I urgently need your help to survive and support my ailing mother.

Seven years ago, I embarked on a journey to start my own business with my best friend. Naively, I took out a personal loan to fund our venture, hoping it would be the beginning of a successful future. Unfortunately, the business failed, and my friend abandoned me, leaving me with a substantial debt. This was the first significant setback in my life.

Determined to turn my fortunes around, I opened another business in 2020 in Russia as a Latvian foreigner. Our shop, selling smart toys for kids, thrived, and for a moment, I believed my life was finally looking up. But then, tragedy struck again. The Russian invasion of Ukraine led to many consequences. One of them was a sanction made from Russia to all foreigner entrepreneurs who were having business in Russia. As a result all my funds and business were frozen by Russian governments. These are still frozen until today and it is unlikely that they will ever give it back to me and my friend. In the end I had to go to the UK, leaving behind almost everything.

I was left with three personal loans from Latvian and English banks, taken to support our business endeavors, along with money borrowed from friends. In 2022, after moving to the UK, I secured a job at a contact lens manufacturer. For two years, I worked diligently, slowly repaying my loans and debts.

However, two months ago, my mother’s health took a turn for the worse. I had to return to Latvia to care for her, which led to my dismissal from my job due to unauthorized leave.

Now, I find myself in a small flat with my mother in a town in Latvia of just 20,000 people, struggling to make ends meet. Despite applying for numerous jobs, I have not yet secured any employment.

Currently, I am behind on my loan payments and have just 45 euros left to my name.

Loan companies are chasing me, and I am under tremendous stress, unsure of how to keep going.

The emotional toll of seeing my mother suffer while being unable to provide for her or myself is overwhelming.

I am reaching out to you, kind souls, to ask for your support. Here is how the funds raised will be used:

€1,500 to cover overdue loan payments and prevent further financial penalties.

€500 to ensure my mother receives the care she needs.

€500 to cover living expenses, including rent, utilities, and groceries, for the next two months.
