Help Ilan and her family survive the war-Gaza

My name is Melanie, and I am calling on all of you for your support to help my friend evacuate his family from Gaza.

I have known Fadi El Herbawy since 2014 when I started to look into what was going on in the Gaza strip. Fadi quickly became a friend of mine and someone I came to care for and respect immensely. His courage, his faith and his determination are some of the things about him that intially touched my heart. All the negative images and rhetoric’s trying to dehumanise Palestinians could not be applied to him, and the more I got to know him, the more I got to know Palestinians. Palestinians are some of the most loving, welcoming, and determined people I have ever met. They are people just like us trying to survive, and who deserve their freedom.

Since 2014, Fadi has shown great efforts to better his and his family's life and to follow his dreams of becoming an artist and starting his own business overseas. Despite the hardships’ caused by almost two decades of blockade over Gaza, Fadi, determined, made his dreams come true. He is currently living in Turkey creating art inspired by his Palestinian roots and heritage.

Although Fadi is currently safe and away from the constant threats of death, his family’s future remains uncertain.

Fadi left behind 20 family members in Gaza when he left for Turkey in 2020.

As we speak, Palestinians in Gaza are facing the most brutal and inhumane conditions in today’s modern time. Fadi’s family have not been spared. Although Fadi has never asked me for anything, I feel desperate to help him and his family any way that I can. With his permission, I am creating this page to raise the funds necessary to help his family escape from Gaza. Sadly, we all know that this is not the life they have chosen. The choice to leave Gaza comes with a heavy heart but mostly from the desire to live and to provide a better life for their family but especially for the children.

Fadi’s family includes 12 members over the age of 18 counting his father, mother, brothers and sisters. They count also 8 children including his youngest niece Ilan, 5 years of age ( as shown below).

Before October 7th, 2023, Ilan’s family worked in the field of trade. They owned an event organizing business which was one of the most famous stores in Gaza. Present at many special events throughout Gaza, my friends family through their buisness have created so many beautiful memories for many Gazans. The Party Center was most famous for its antiques and unique household items as well as it’s presence at many weddings and Palestinian celebrations.

Now, due to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, everything has been destroyed. The shop and all its merchandise have all been destroyed. Fadi’s family’s hopes and dreams have been destroyed. What they had to make a life, has been destroyed. Their homes and all their belongings have been destroyed.

Currently displaced in Rafah, they have no where safe to go. Israel has recently announced a new ground invasion in Rafah within a few weeks. Fadi’s and Ilan’s family have no where to go and our stuck to face a very terrifying future where tomorrow may not be an option.

Their ONLY option is to evacuate through the Rafah crossing AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. If you follow the news, to cross over into Egypt is quite costly. The cost can be up to 7000$ per person over the age of 18 and over 2500$ for children. Without any means to make money, Fadi’s family is left hopeless and alone.

If you are like me and care about your fellow humans surviving this tragedy, then please join me, and let's raise sufficient funds to help them evacuate and rebuilt their lives. Palestinians have the biggest heart, they will never accept to leave a family member behind. This is why, we need to get them all out safe and sound together. Let's reunite them with my friend Fadi.
