Help Javy and Audrey fight Scout’s Cancer

As hard as it is to ask for help, we realize we can’t fight this alone.

Last week, we took Scout to the vet for her routine checkup in the morning. By the end of the day, a rush to the ER, and several tests and scans later, we were out $6000 and our worst fears were confirmed.

Our shiba girl has cancer.

Lymphoma–a cancer of the blood–is a tricky, intelligent cancer that has to be hit with a series of treatments (named the CHOP protocol) in order to keep it in remission. Although incurable for dogs, it is one of the most common and treatable cancers; and often with treatment, most dogs can live out the rest of their lives with a great quality of life. Without treatment, dogs are given only a few weeks left to live, as the cancer spreads rapidly.

We are humbly asking for your help to put towards Scout’s Lymphoma treatments, which altogether will cost us an astronomical $11,000 over the course of six months. We cannot currently afford her treatment costs after exhausting our savings.

We understand times are hard, but any amount you can give will help us shoulder the enormous financial burden, and all of it will be put towards her treatment.

Scout is a member of our family; we love her more than words could express. She helped us raise her little shiba brother Bandit, gave us a routine, and some semblance of normality throughout the pandemic–even when the world around us seemed to spiral out of control. She is sweet, gentle and a delight to families, veterinarians, and kids who come across her on our walks.

Unlike human chemo, dog chemo doesn’t cause hair loss or make the dog sick, and starting treatment significantly improves quality of life, and will not negatively impact her. With your generosity, she can keep doing the things she loves–basking in the sun, eating all the cheese, and playing with her friends at the dog park. Please help us keep our shiba girl with us just a little longer.

All funds given to us through this fundraiser will be solely dedicated to Scout’s treatment. If somehow we surpass our goal and have leftover funds after her treatment is done, we will distribute those funds to other pups in need through various GoFundMes.
