Help Mom be mobile enough to fulfill her wishes
Hello All,
After moving to Denver, Colorado from Revere, Massachusetts to start a new lease on life in May 2021, my mother Susan Coppola, was diagnosed with Stage IV Small Cell Lung Carcinoma on July 17, 2021. She was given a medical prognosis of less than 12 months to live. My mom has a few goals she would like to accomplish in the foreseeable future. Therefore, we kindly ask for assistance to help her goals, and to help her make as many more positive memories with her family.
Susan’s current goals are:
To be able to hold her grandson, once he’s born. He’s expected to arrive on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
To travel. While Mom cannot travel out of state, she would love to visit Colorado Springs, Colorado with her youngest child Mikey and be able to show him some of Colorado’s beauties that she moved here to be able to explore. The issue about traveling is that she does not have a portable oxygen device that last more than 30 minutes. The tanks, disbursed via a third-party company, are never delivered as scheduled or full. Her last oxygen tank delivery contained one empty tank and was 2 days late. Local medical supply company rentals for such devices cost between $400 - $780 per week. There is a portable oxygen compressor she would like to obtain to live a less restricted life. The current retail price for the device and additional battery pack costs roughly $4,000 USD. Because of her current oxygen supply situation, she is not even able to visit the pool at her apartment complex. Mom loves the mountains, yet dearly misses the ocean. Who would not miss water if they had lived their entire life, minus months, on the water? So lets do what we can to fulfill her one last dream of travelling as much as she can.
*** If some were able to donate one in lieu of financial assistance for medical equipment and expenses, it would be FANTASTIC. If this situation, any money that was not donated anonymously would be returned electronically in a swift manner. ***
My mom opened her home to many people in her lifetime and still would to anyone in need, it’s just who she is. After losing her husband in 2007, she continued to give her heart and soul to children as a paraprofessional (literacy coach) for Revere Public Schools, and Revere Pop Warner, and donating any time to volunteering to help anyone she could. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
