"Dear friends,

A year ago, my husband, daughter, and I came to America as tourists. Very quickly, we realized that we wanted to make this country our home and build a happy future here. But life took an unexpected turn.

My husband was struck by a car while crossing the street at a pedestrian crosswalk. After the accident, he underwent a complex surgery on his leg and was confined to a wheelchair. He was always an active, athletic, and energetic man, but the accident left him isolated and devastated.

We hoped for justice, but the person responsible for the accident faced no consequences. Worse, they refused to cover our medical bills, leaving us to bear all the financial burden. Unable to work or provide for his family, my husband struggled deeply with his new reality.

Tragically, he could no longer endure the pain and has left us. He was an extraordinary person — a loving father, a kind and intelligent man with strong values and a remarkable outlook on life. Losing him has left a void in our lives.
