Help Prince Walk Again: Urgent Surgery Needed
Donation protected
This little guy, Prince, broke his back leg yesterday right below the knee. He broke it while he was tied to his outdoor lead. Prince was there for less then 5 minutes when he started to jump at a butterfly, not realizing his leg was twisted in the line. The vet said it was a spiral break, and will need surgery.
The timing was terrible as it's the holiday weekend, and not many vets are open. The first open vet office they drove to wouldn't even see him because they were so busy.
The second emergency vet they drove to, did eventually see him. But, only after he had to wait with his mama Julie for several hours in the car.
When the vet finally saw him and took x-rays, they told Julie that they couldn't do the surgery he needed here, and he would need to go to an orthopedic vet when they open. They estimated the cost for that would be up to 5k for the surgery, and then additional cost for aftercare and medications. and the only thing they could do for him there was either amputate the leg for almost $2400, Splint the leg until he can get to the ortho vet around $900, or put him down. That is crazy because he isn't even 1 year old! She chose to splint it.
His mama Julie, is calling around for an ortho vet to see him asap. hopefully they have a better estimate of the cost, but the problem is the funds. Julie, is a single pet parent, and she was laid off for a while, not to long ago. She had the funds to pay the vet the $900 yesterday, but won't have enough to completely do the surgery. She applied to care credit, but only qualified for $1500. Again, the timing couldn't be worse, because less then 2 weeks ago she took him to the vet to be neutered and getting his shots up to date.
He is currently at home with Julie. While she calls as many vets as she can, he is trying to sleep. He was very uncomfortable last night, and kept waking up every half hour or so.
Any help is appreciated, no matter the size. Every bit will help us get to our goal, even if it is only $5.
Thank you for reading this. Please share it to help Prince get his surgery. He is a good boy, and deserves to live a long full life, with all 4 legs. We just can't do it ourselves.
Thank you.
***Update*** Julie found a vet who would do the surgery for around $3,800! Plus aftercare. Between us we were able to get him in using our credit cards. Thank you again to anyone who donated. We wouldn't have been able to save his leg without you!
