I would like to introduce you to this beautiful 6 month old baby boy, Ronin, my great nephew, first born son of my beautiful niece Gabrielle (Gaby) and her boyfriend Jermean.
Gaby was the first niece and grandchild in our family and Ronin the first great grand baby. We were overjoyed when they announced they were expecting a handsome and healthy baby boy! 3 weeks premature, all looked wonderful, our hearts were full and we were excited to welcome him to the family!
Hours after his birth our joy was shattered, Ronin was born with a SEVERE HEART DEFECT that requires repair surgery to save his life.
Just 2 days later he is being transported via air ambulance to a Cardiovascular facility in Colombia, as Aruba does not have the facilities or the doctors to help him.
Mom had to rush and get a Covid test, pack their bags and board the air ambulance to a country she doesn't know, while FEARING for her sons life!
Upon arrival they took him and told her she couldn't stay! She had to fight, beg and cry to see her son and they would only allow a few hours a day! After a long battle and millions of tears, they finally allowed her to stay with him.
After weeks and months of testing and transfusions, they discovered he also has BONE MARROW FAILURE.
Bone marrow is responsible for the production of red blood cells that transport oxygen to the rest of your body, white blood cells that fight off infections and platelets responsible for clotting.
He has complete failure, which means he's at constant risk of bleeding and severe life-threatening infection.
Baby Ronin is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplantation. If not he will surely die.
HE NEEDS THE TRANSPLANTATION BEFORE HE CAN HAVE THE LIFE SAVING HEART SURGERY.
The clock is ticking for him, we don't know how much time we have left.
Gaby, Jermean and Ronin have endured heartbreaking blow after blow and an immeasurable amount of hardships in his short life.
In Aruba they don't have the means to treat baby Ronin and many other international hospitals are denying further treatment considering the complex combination of problems he has. These hospitals and doctors are basing this conclusion off of what they read on paper without actually seeing our little warrior, baby Ronin!
If anything is certain it's that their son is a fighter and has overcome countless odds. He has shown over and over again that he has an intense will to live and he deserves to be given every opportunity to fight for his life.
They have finally found a hospital in the United States with enough expertise and willingness to take on his complex case and need to transport him via air ambulance as soon as possible.
We need your help to give baby Ronin a fighting chance. Survival is not guaranteed. Time is of the essence!
Their insurance refuses to cover further treatment and is urging, even pressuring them to go back home and let him die.
He's the happiest baby, flirting his way into the hearts of everyone he meets with his beautiful smile.
All Baby Ronin knows is his hospital room. He only knows his Mommy's smell and voice as she looks just like the doctors and nurses in her scrubs, mask and shield.
He hasn't felt the sun on his face or the warm breeze on his skin.
