Help support Gord Allison in his fight

Hi my name is Sydney and I am making a fundraiser for my dad Gord and mom Jacquie to help with bills and cost of medications and medical interventions needed as my dad fights Cancer. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and it had metastasized and spread to his brain last year and if that wasn’t a big enough punch to the guts, he was let go from his employment in November 2022 amid his cancer battle due to this diagnosis and subsequently lost all medical benefits, group coverage and income. As of October of this year, the tumours have spread to his spine and he received radiation for this but it has been a hard journey these last few weeks. My family has been able to juggle expenses up until now with the loss of income and loss of benefits but with some prescriptions being 1000$ or more, some months totalling over 3000 dollars in just prescriptions alone, the potential need of at home medical equipment arising and the cost of living being so high, it’s become overwhelming and hard to navigate by ourselves and I’m hoping that I can get the help of our community and those who love Gord to help get him through this next little bit and to give him to ability to breathe and focus on his battle instead of bills and the cost of everything right now.
My dad is an amazing man, father, grandfather, boss, husband and friend and so beloved by anyone who is lucky enough to cross his path. To say I am proud and lucky to be his daughter is an understatement. I have watched my entire life as this man has paid strangers bills, bought strangers groceries, taken people into our home to live with us when times were tough and built them up and grew them and made them into family members when they were far away from their own.
We were never rich by any means but my parents always made sure that when we had extra, they shared it and made an impact. Every year, he and my mom would sponsor christmases for families and drive around town for 24 days of Christmas pretending to be ‘Bluetoes the Elf’ and delivering Christmas cheer daily to chosen families. He never missed a family to sponsor for thanksgiving or Christmas and would make sure to keep in contact even after the baskets were delivered and help with drives to job interviews, getting oilfield tickets set up to go to work or even a random ride to Canadian tire to swap a car battery, I have been so fortunate to watch Gord go above and beyond for strangers, family and friends and to never leave anyone down on their luck. When we first moved to alberta, my parents opened our home up amid the housing crisis and rental crisis GP was experiencing and had some of his staff come live with us, some for a few months, some for a few years and most became family over this time but he made sure that these men travelling far from their families and their homes always had a warm bed and a hot meal and a place to be. No matter where Gord is or who he is around, he makes sure every single person feels important, look after and supported.
This last year has been so incredibly hard and difficult for my family. Watching the strongest man in the world fight a battle like this with what feels like never ending roadblocks and uphill battles is starting to take a toll and I would love to be able to show him how truly loved and supported he is through this. He’s truly the best dad, best papa and best guy out there and we as a family appreciate any support you can offer at this time.
thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for supporting Gord ❤️
