Help Support Matt Buytens Journey to Recovery & Independence

Dear friends, family, and the extended motocross community,

We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts. Our friend and renowned freestyle motocross rider, Matt Buyten, recently experienced a life-changing accident this past weekend. Buyten had a nasty crash that has left him 100% paralyzed from the chest down While his spirit remains unbroken, he faces a tremendous journey ahead.

The Challenge

As Matt prepares to return home from the hospital, we want to ensure that his home in Texas is fully equipped to meet his new needs. This involves extensive renovations to make his living space wheelchair accessible, safe, and comfortable. These modifications are crucial for Matt's independence and quality of life.

Our Mission

With the help of friends and family, we are dedicated to transforming Matt's home to accommodate his new lifestyle. However, the costs associated with these renovations are substantial. We estimate the total expenses to be around $75,000, covering:

• Entrance and Exit Modifications: Installing ramps, widening doorways, and lowering thresholds.

• Interior Adjustments: Ensuring accessible hallways, appropriate flooring, and ample space for mobility.

• Bathroom Overhaul: Creating a roll-in shower, installing grab bars, and modifying the toilet and sink for accessibility.

• Kitchen Remodeling: Lowering countertops, adjusting cabinets, and ensuring appliances are accessible.

• Bedroom and Living Areas: Modifying closet rods, bed height, furniture arrangement, and installing smart home devices.

• Safety Enhancements: Adding appropriate lighting, smoke detectors, and an emergency evacuation plan.

• Vehicle Configuration: Configuring Matt's vehicle to a wheelchair accessible motor-vehicle to ensure he can travel safely and comfortably.
