Help the Graebner Family

Donation protected
As many of you know, our dear friend Sarah Graebner was terribly injured in a golf cart accident last Friday, June 25, 2021.  The cart tipped over on the main road and she was thrown from the vehicle suffering severe cranial damage and swelling of the brain.  She was treated for her wounds at the scene by the Fire Ambulance in Arnold, CA.  Then, she was airlifted to Sutter Health Memorial Hospital in Modesto, CA, with another person, who suffered similar injuries.  Because both of them needed surgery, Sarah was deemed to have sustained less severe injuries and transferred to Doctors Medical Center Modesto to receive treatment from their Operating Room team.

Sarah's Condition:

She completed surgery last Saturday, June 26, 2021 and has remained under heavy sedation for much of the week.  The swelling of her brain has gone down and the medical team is working to bring her out of heavy sedation, but it will be some time before she returns to consciousness.  They need to balance the new sedatives with other medications being used to manage a blood clot in her brain, her blood pressure and to prevent any excess bleeding in her brain.  In addition, the staff is concerned about lesions on her frontal lobe sustained from the accident, but they won't be able to assess the impact of the lesions until she wakes up.

Earlier in the week, she received blood and now has a stable blood count, but a CT Scan revealed she had a partially collapsed lung that needed to be cleaned and re-inflated.  This process has been completed and was successful.  She is currently breathing at 96% capacity.  She remains on a ventilator that is doing approximately 30% of her breathing, the other 66% is Sarah's body breathing.  She is making progress.  But, her condition still remains very, very serious.

She remains in the critical care unit of the hospital.  Only her parents have been allowed to see her and receive information on her status per the hospital policy.  Her family has requested that people not call the hospital, so the staff can focus all of their attention on providing Sarah with the best possible care and Sarah can dedicate all her strength to healing.  The staff has been providing her parents with daily updates on her condition and her mother has been commuting to be with her daughter.  When they receive new information, Sarah’s parents will share with us and we will update this page.

Financial need:

We are asking for the help of our friends, family and larger community to assist Sarah and her family with the medical bills that she will incur as a result of the brain surgery and intensive care.  At the time of the accident, Sarah did not have medical insurance and we would like to alleviate some of the financial burden from her and her family, so they can focus their energy on her recovery.  Any additional funds received will be diverted to transportation or to feed and care for Sarah’s beloved kitties Mookie and Peach.

Sarah is a bright light to anyone she encounters.  She is a passionate and an incredibly loyal friend to those she loves.  Her laugh, humor and spirit are infectious and we need all the help we can to bring her energy back to those that love her and all the hearts she has touched.  Since the accident, many of our mutual friends have called to offer comfort and be comforted and one description of her consistently rings true: Sarah is a fighter.  This is what we love about her the most.  We hope this instinct and all her other gifts will carry her through the healing process.

Please feel free to donate any amount you can to the GoFundMe page.  We will also look to hold an in person fundraiser for Sarah when the time is right.  If you are unable to donate, please share her fundraising page, continue to pray or keep her in your heart and hope for her recovery.
