Hello, we are The Slyde - a Canadian prog rock/metal act, based out of Toronto. Formed in 2009, we have released numerous albums and have played nearly 200 shows in Canada. Since day one, our goal has always been to perform in Europe, where prog rock and heavy metal music thrive.
After months of competing in the 2019 edition of Wacken Metal Battle Canada, we were crowned the Canadian champions, and now we advance to the international final at Wacken Open Air in Germany, where we compete against 29 other winners from around the world! After 10 years of rocking in Canada, we finally get our opportunity to break into the international and European markets with this festival show.
As the Canadian winners, we received $2000 from Wacken Metal Battle, $600 from BigNate Productions and $400 from a CJSW 90.9fm raffle at the Calgary final, but it's not enough. We are launching this crowdfunding campaign to help raise an additional $5000 to get to Wacken, Germany. These funds will help cover the remainder of the costs to our plane tickets, accommodations, per diems, and other travel fees. It will also help recoup the debt incurred from travelling to Calgary, Alberta for the National Final of the Canadian competition.
