Help to Get Bud Powell a Headstone at Woodlawn

Bud Powell Centenary aims to honor the great pianist with a ceremony at his grave site on his hundredth birthday, 27 september 2024.

Through a fiscal sponsor, the money has already been raised to pay Woodlawn cemetery for his plot. It will be down the road from the plots in which Duke Ellington's, Miles Davis's, and Max Roach's (among others') remains lie.

At Woodlawn's site can be seen a list of the other great entertainers whose remains are there.

Bud Powell Centenary needs the money to buy a headstone for his grave site at Woodlawn. It will be a modest one, nothing ornate - just respectful.
