My name is Tonja; I am 53; I am currently a Junior at Hilbert College and hairstylist at Spa at Falling Waters in Orchard Park, NY. I am blessed with four children and ten grandchildren.

Three years ago, I left my husband of 12 years because of Domestic Violence I had suffered for years. I left my home and everything I had from furniture, pictures and family memorabilia to escape and begin again from scratch. As scared as I was to go, I found the courage and put my life in God's hands. It’s been three years now, and even though I have struggled, I am happy knowing that I am free, have found peace in my life, and am rebuilding my life.

I found out before I left my husband had embezzled my inheritance, so I haven’t been financially able to save money for an attorney. Since I left, my husband has made no attempt to make things right and has been very spiteful. I am reaching out now because he hasn’t paid the mortgage, and our home is in foreclosure. In the divorce, I would be awarded the house, and I plan to sell and replenish some of what he took. However, he can afford the payment he chooses not to do so; I would lose my chance to sell it and retrieve whatever belongings of mine he hasn’t sold, broken or thrown away. So I am raising money to hire an attorney to save my house and start my divorce so that I may have closure and retrieve some of what he took from me.
