Help Tori support her therapy needs.

A beautiful thing happened recently! While Tori (who has been diagnosed with autism and additional special needs) was out for a walk, she had a significant meltdown. We were having a tough time getting her calm and to a safe location. Unexpectedly, a family came around a bend in the path with a young dog in training as an autism support dog. What happened at that moment was truly magical and even though we'd looked in to the possibility of a service dog in the past, we knew for sure at this point that this is what Tori and the family needed.
Alex, who has been diagnosed with autism and ADHD was there to witness the whole interaction and he immediately started researching. The grown ups did some searching too and we believe that the support that an expertly trained dog can provide will help both Tori and Alex to develop greater social skills, help them recover faster during meltdowns and keep them safer.
Because elopement and self-injury is such a concern in families like ours, we know that specialized training is a must. We've identified a professional training organization that we feel good about and a dog breed that is hypoallergenic and well-suited for the job.
We know this process will require an investment of time, energy and funds and we're asking for help to make this a reality for us financially. Thanks for your support!
