Help us pay our medical debt and student loans

Hi. We're the Equinox Collective, a queer plural (meaning that there are multiple people living in one shared body) Afro-Cuban adoptee/foster care survivor that is 22 years old. We live in the Central Virginia area near Richmond and are currently enrolled in Virginia Commonwealth University. 

We have multiple mental illness and neurodevelopmental differences, including Autism, Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Major Depression and Generalized Anxiety. As a result of that, we have had a lot of medical care and hospitalizations throughout our lives, with a lot of bills to pay on top of our student loans.

Overall, we have over $10,400 worth of hospital stay bills, ER visit charges, stalled prescriptions (for our medication we haven’t been able to take to stay stable), primary care visits and physical therapy appointments, and our student loans total to around ~$12,000. Despite all of this, everything medical has been piling up for years, and our adopted family has had us stuck in an extremely abusive household that has been withholding information and support that we need in order to live, including the fact that they're not even our biological family and have been lying to us and covering that fact up due to our mental health conditions so they can continually abuse us.

Things they have continually done to us have made it hard to live, maintain work and relationships, and be healthy overall. We are currently in a homeless shelter that can only let us sleep until August. We have also been physically assaulted and neglected, sexually groomed as a child, and emotionally abused under that house for more than two decades. A close friend of ours, who is also a black, queer, plural system, has had to help from NYC by providing EBT for groceries through Instacart, and they have, along with us, received death threats from our adopted father to “blow [their] motherfucking brains out when [they] come outside.”

Anything that you can give towards this fund will be extremely helpful. This'll allow us to be able to pay our bills which in turn will help restore our credit, and pay for our student loans so that we can hopefully escape minimum wage.
