Help West Nile Victim
Donation protected
This is Angela Thomas. My husband Lynn became very ill on Labor Day week-end and was rushed to the hospital. We live in Nebraska and all major hospitals are hours from our small rural city. After 10 days of treatments, testing, and a period of near death, a diagnosis was determined...serious West Nile Virus. High risk people are those over 60; diabetic; and high blood pressure. Lynn battles all of these daily. I had to close my small printing business to be with my husband. The nearest hospital that could treat him is over a 5 hour drive one-way. To stay with him during this stressful time and near death period, I have had to pay for meals, housing, travel expense, and the loss the little income from my business has left us financially devastated. It will take much time for any insurance coverage to help with medical expenses. In the meantime, there are many many expenses that are out-of-pocket. The closing of my small business has stopped the generation of income, which was little, and potentially ruined my business's future. The struggles we face from the result of his contracting West Nile will be long term and financially draining. Recovery from severe West Nile virus might take several weeks or months or even longer. Some effects to the central nervous system might be permanent. No vaccine or specific antiviral treatments for West Nile virus infection are available. About 1 out of 10 people who develop severe illness affecting the central nervous system die. Please give hope to my husband and me. Helping us with your donations will help me cover some of our many out-of-pocket expenses now and for an unknown period of time while he fights this in-treatable virus.
