Helping Miss Sue

Hello, my name is Jennifer. I’m Sue’s daughter. My mom lost everything, including her life’s savings in the Hatcher Mountain forest fire in Sevier County. My entire life I’ve watched my mom give to others, even when she didn’t have it to give. She would always say, ”God will take care of me”. She has been living in that cabin for 3 years. The owner and she had an agreement. She was buying the place in cash but about 30 days ago the seller decided to ask for 3x the amount agreed upon. As a real estate broker mom new it wasn’t worth it but had the original amount in cash in her home ready to close. She lost all of her cash in the fire. She is very strong and independent so we (her family) did not know anything about this. So there is no insurance for her to collect. She literally lost everything! As her family, we would love to just provide her a home to spend the rest of her life in. Anything given beyond getting her on her feet will be given to the community. My mom has helped people in ways I’ll never know. As a child, we struggled with money but we always bought groceries, Christmas, paid bills, etc for others. I promise you that anything donated beyond what’s needed to get her stable will be paid forward to others in her community. Anyone that knows her, knows that she will continue to help her community! I did not know what to put as the goal. She would be upset if I put the monetary amount in cash that she lost. She’s worked hard for everything in her life and is humiliated by me even making this.
