Higginbottom Family House Fire Fund
Donation protected
We're a community group helping a family that has lost their home in a recent house fire. The Higginbottom/Washington family has painful ties to our community because their father and grandfather, Elwood Higginbottom, was lynched here in Oxford in 1935. Several family members fled the area and eventually settled in Memphis, including EW Higginbottom, son of Elwood. Mr. EW Higginbottom lived with his daughter, Tina Washington, and her husband and children until the fire destroyed their home. The family is in the process of paying short-term housing bills, getting in a new rental home, and replacing clothing and furniture. We are honored to have connected with this family several months ago, and we hope that we can help them settle in their new home. Please help!
