Honoring Aaliyah Bonman's Memory
Donation protected
Shortly before 3:00 am on Saturday, August 24, 2024, officers from the Northeast Policing District responded to the Rite-Aid parking lot at 8027 North Cedar Avenue regarding a shooting victim. Officers arrived and located 19-year-old Aaliyah Bonman on the ground, suffering from a single gunshot wound to her upper body. Officers and EMS personnel provided first aid on the scene and transported her to St. Agnes Hospital for medical treatment. Bonman did not survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 6:33 am.
Homicide detectives began their investigation and learned that prior to the shooting, Bonman was in a physical disturbance with 21-year-old Penelope Mehr. During the fight, Mehr fired a handgun once at Bonman, killing her. Detectives also identified 18-year-old Nevaeh Solomon as the person who aided Mehr during the shooting.
Aaliyah was the prettiest girl. She was so fun and full of life. So loving and goofy and the light in a dark room. She was the type to give her last dollar if she knew it could help someone. We are making this gofundme to assist with putting our sweet girl to rest. Funds are being handled by Corynna Ellis her sister. Thank you for your support.
