Honoring Donnie: Support His Loved Ones

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Adreanna. I’m just a vet tech making it through daily life. I’ve lived with my grandparents half my life, so they are basically like my second parents. This man, in this picture, was my grandpa. His name was Donnie Logsdon. He recently passed away at 59 due to stage 4 colon cancer. He is the first, closest loss I’ve ever experienced. I pictured him walking me down the aisle of my wedding day. He was so special to me and because of my grandparents, I don’t think I’d be on the right track in life in this current moment.

After many surgeries to remove the cancer, it kept coming back. Since being diagnosed in November 2022, he got 5 open stomach surgeries only for them to be no success. After his last surgery, they had told us it had spread so quickly through his body there was nothing they could do. He then went on hospice in October, 2 weeks later, he passed on October 29th, 2023. I think what gets me the most was getting the call that morning, getting ready to go see him, knowing I was too late and never got to say goodbye. He was a soldier. He was the best guy you could ever meet. The best fishing buddy and could make you laugh until you peed. He was a motivator and an extremely hard worker. Anytime I ever felt low, he was there to turn life into positivity. He knew how to get along with everyone. Just talking to him, felt so easy!

My grandma and I have become each other's rock. She is older than him and this has hit her beyond any words can explain, how could it not? The amount of money that she must owe due to hospital charges from all the chemo, surgeries and hospitalization he went through, I worry she will not ever get to live comfortably back on her feet. The memorial alone is also expensive. It is this July and I would love any type of donations from the kind world out there as I am paycheck to paycheck and want to make sure my grandma feels supported and happy throughout this time. I initially would like to surprise her with anything I can get to help her out along with myself. Thank you for taking your time to read my story.
