Honoring Kenya: Help Us Celebrate Her Life

Donation protected
On Sunday, September 15th, Kenya Joy Bland was unexpectedly taken from us. This was, of course, a shock to her family, friends, and community as this was an unexpected tragedy that no one can ever mentally prepare for. Kenya was a loving daughter to her parents (Paul and Cheryl Bland) and a caring sister to her brother. She was a vibrant 28 year old with a zest and zeal for life. She truly loved her family and we all loved her. There are no words to explain how her loss is permeating our hearts.

Kenya was dedicated to education. She was a graduate of Churchill High School in San Antonio, TX and a graduate of Prairie View A&M University with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies. After graduating from college she fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher specializing in Reading and Writing. She first taught reading at the George Gervin Academy and lastly at IDEA Public School in Monterrey Park teaching 4th grade writing. She was passionate about teaching young minds and her students absolutely adored her. As a teacher, Kenya found it important to share her knowledge of English Language Arts to elementary aged students. Through a focus on reading comprehension and writing excellent essays, her imparted knowledge will live on. She leaves behind a lasting teaching legacy carried on through her students who love her dearly.

Kenya's passing is felt by loved ones, friends and the school community. We all miss her greatly and we appreciate the community of support that has reached out to us during this time.

Due to this tragedy, our family is faced with arranging her funeral services, burial and unexpected costs. This fundraiser will support the Bland family with all final expenses. Our family is immensely grateful for any support provided and your kindness and compassion during this time is appreciated.

Thank you for your love and support,

The Bland Family
