Honoring the Life of Susan Collins: A Beloved Teacher, Mentor, and Mother.
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of beloved educator and mother Susan Collins. For over 35 years, Susan dedicated her life to teaching in Illinois and Northwest Indiana, touching the hearts and minds of countless students with her unwavering kindness, wisdom, and compassion.
Tragically, on June 3 2024, Susan's life was cut short by multi-organ failure and septic shock while fighting cancer for the last 5 years. Yet, even in her darkest moments, she faced each challenge with remarkable grace and resilience, never losing the beautiful spirit that made her such a beloved figure in her community. As one of her former students reflected, "Ms. Collins didn't just teach us math - she taught us how to be good people. She had a genuine care for every single student."
Susan's home was always an open door to those in need, as she selflessly gave of herself to uplift and support all who crossed her path.
Funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards covering the costs of Susan's memorial service and celebration of life. This will ensure her family, friends, students and community members can gather to grieve her loss and pay tribute to the remarkable woman she was.
Any contributions, no matter how small, will help ensure she receives the dignified farewell she so deserves.
Memorial plans are being determined at the start of this campaign. We hope to finalize details in the next week. Updates will be posted here and on Susan's Facebook page. Thank you.
