Please help Cheryl recover from losing her home
Donation protected
Last week, a new construction that was going up next to our Aunt Cheryl's flat in San Francisco burned to the ground, taking her home from her along with it. Auntie Cheryl has been in her apartment for over 40 years. She is retired and depended on rent control to live in her beloved city. She is also recovering from a knee replacement and is legally disabled.
She was forced to flee her home in the wee hours of the morning with not much but the shirt on her back and her purse. The home is now condemned until extensive repairs can be made, which is forecasted to take at least 18 months. Over a week later and she still hasn't even been allowed inside to retrieve any personal belongings. We don't yet know what will be salvageable after smoke and water damage. At the very least she will need to find housing and likely replace many bare essentials. Cheryl has been staying with incredibly generous friends and bouncing from hotel to hotel.
We all know that there are so many in need of support right now, and Aunt Cheryl is always first in line to do what she can with what little she has. Her home has been Jen and Sarah's second home all our lives. She took us in as young women when we needed not only housing but nurturing.
Now, she is one of those who needs support most. She is known and loved by many, and I know many in the community want to send aid. Every donation helps and 100% will go directly to Cheryl. We will share updates as progress is made. Thank you!
