Misty's Graduation Fund

Donation protected
My sister Misty is an incredibly intelligent young woman who’s had a long run of bad luck. She is two semesters away from graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business from Texas State University, however she has run out of funds, out of loan options and financial aid options.

Misty’s Story

Misty has supported herself throughout her entire college education with very little help from anyone. Our mother couldn’t afford to put her through school, so she did it herself. She received financial aid, took out student loans, was awarded scholarships and worked to pay for school and living expenses. She achieved her associate’s degree from Austin Community College with excellent grades and transferred to Texas State University to work towards her Bachelors in Business to work with non-profit organizations.

Everything was going well, but on her last semester she had to leave unexpectedly to move our disabled mother from Virginia to Texas. Our mother didn’t have anywhere to stay and had lost her housing. Terrified that our mother would be left homeless if she didn’t come help, Misty informed her professors she would be absent, rented a U-haul and left to go move our mom to Texas. In order to do this she took 18 credit hours of incompletes. Immediately afterwards she became extremely ill for many months from advanced Lyme disease and was unable to complete her classes. At this point she had already used all of her options for financial aid, had the maximum number of student loans and had no other avenues to gain money for tuition in order to retake the classes. Her health has continued to be spotty and she was considered disabled as a result by the state. She has struggled to make enough money in order to support herself and hasn't been able to save enough for school despite working.

Our extended family provides what help they can but none of us can provide for the full cost of tuition. We need your help to get her back to where she belongs and complete her education before her college credits expire and she is just left with debt and no feasible way of paying it back.

Thank you so much for your consideration
