Imagine Robotics - The Electro-Lions

We are The Electro-Lions from Imagine School at Town Center. We are a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) rookie team made up of ten 8th graders and on February 23rd, we WON 2nd place, overall Champions Award, at Florida’s Northeast Regional Tournament competing against 48 teams in Jacksonville. We made presentations to judges who are current Astronauts, Ex-NASA Engineers, Rocket Designers, scientists and teachers in three different judging categories: Core Value, Projects (based on issues that NASA/Astronauts face) and Robot Design. In addition, we had the challenge of building and programming a robot to complete missions on a table-top platform.

Having won 2nd place, we won a bid to represent our team at the Florida State Championship in Delray Beach in April as well as a bigger opportunity to showcase our team at and international event in Arkansas at the Razorback Invitational in May 16 – 19, 2019. At this tournament we will be showcasing our talent in-front of the world audience - so far teams from South Wales, Australia, Nigeria, Sweden, and Korea along with teams from all 50 states will be competing against us, The Electro-Lions from Imagine School at Town Center in Palm Coast, FL.

The FIRST Lego League (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) program has the guidance and directions from our Coach, Kristen Cook, who is our middle school STEAM teacher. We have learned many things during this process such as how to use our core values as a team as well as gracious professionalism. Gracious professionalism encourages high quality work and respect between peers and teammates. Our core values help us to work together and form a cooperative team.

FIRST Lego League and our coach has opened many opportunities that we can pursue as we grow as young adults, and into our adult lives. We have learned that there are so many more opportunities available as long as we work hard and pursue our dreams.

So far in this competitive season, we have managed to get by with support from our families and small fundraising efforts as a rookie team, but we are now entering the biggest stages of our young academic lives. This is why we are reaching out to you, our community, corporate leaders, business leaders, families, friends to help us get to our stage. Our goal is to reach $15,000.00 for both competitions which will cover the expenses for registrations for both events, traveling expenses, accommodations at these venues for (10) students and (2) coaches and new materials for our presentations.

Your generous donations will provide our team the ability to achieve our goals and have the opportunity to reach even further than we could have ever imagined. We are changing the future and influencing generations to come. Please help us put our team, our school, and our community on the map!
