In Loving Memory, Jimme Lee Switzer Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Jimmie Lee Switzer, at the young age of 54 (just shy of his 55th birthday coming up) passed away Thursday March 12th at 4:22pm after an almost 4 week battle at 2 different hospitals with Pulmonary Fibrosis. This was an acute and rapid decline, entering Desert Regional Hospital on February 16th with shortness of breath. It then turned into a delay of care with his insurance companies which forced him to be intubated, sedated, and on a ventilator (life support). After aggressive public pressure and non-stop calls to insurance from our family friend & family, he was transferred to Cedar Sinai Medical Center. Jimmie was then faced with ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome) which he could not recover from. His hope was to get a lung transplant considering all of his other organs were healthy, but sadly he never recovered enough to do so. Before he was intubated my mother and I prayed with him and he voiced how he wanted to fight and his last words with us being "Jesus take the wheel." I am his step-daughter and was blessed to have him raise my brother and me the last 20 years of our lives.

Jimmie was his family's "baby." He was a great man of faith! To his friends he was happy, always smiling, goofy, easy going, and a simple man. He got along with everyone and was a go with the flow kind of guy. He was a lover of all sports and knew everything about baseball and football. He loved animals especially his dog, Pearl. He was a good family man, loved to talk, and was devoted to his wife, Laurie, (who he called "Dear") of 20 years. Before he was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis, he owned his own tree business for many years. He is survived by his wife, his stepchildren Brittany (& Ed)
& Brian, his daughters Megan & Selby, and his siblings and their spouses: Thomas, Debbie (& George), and Jerry (& Tammy).

The reason for this memorial fund is to raise money to assist with burial costs, his memorial, and the left over expenses between he and my mother (as this all happened so suddenly). It is honestly still hard writing about him in past tense. All and any donations no matter how small, are much appreciated and will 100% go directly to his memorial service and related expenses that are left over. If you prefer to Venmo, you can find me at: @brittsface. We are devastated for our huge loss in our family but feel at peace knowing he is with his parents and Jesus rejoicing in heaven. Thank you for all your prayers and support during this difficult journey.
