In Memory of Michael Broadway: Seeking Justice and Support

This is Michael Broadway, literary author, a friend to some, family to most, an influence to everyone he engaged with. Michael Broadway tragically lost his life due to a sudden asthma attack exacerbated by deplorable conditions in IDOC. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, a devoted friend, and a vibrant member of our community. Michael's passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew him. Michael was guided by his moral compass. He exuded wisdom and thoughtfulness, characters that led to him being a leader and trusted advisor. Michael's presence will be missed by many.

Michael's asthma was manageable under normal circumstances, but the neglect and inadequate healthcare within the IDOC system proved fatal. His death was preventable, and we are determined to hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

We are raising funds for Michael's going home ceremony, including costs for his loved one's to travel to Chicago. Any additional funds will allow his loved one's to take some time off work to grieve and honor Michael.
