Jake Bucchiere's Eagle Scout Project

Hello! my name is Jake Bucchiere and I am pursuing my Eagle Scout rank with Boy Scout Troop 19 in Middleton, Massachusetts. Part of becoming an Eagle Scout is planning and completing a service project that benefits our community.

My Eagle Project is to build a monument honoring veterans from my community who were also members of the Middleton Historical Society. It will be built next to the historical society museum located at 9 Pleasant Street, in Middleton, MA. It will consist of a curved sitting wall that measures 2 feet tall by 22 feet long made of stone blocks. Next to the wall will be a round brick patio with a new 25 foot tall flagpole at its center to fly the American flag. An engraved monument with a dedication to veterans will be installed next to the wall. Finally I will be replacing a dead tree with a flowering Dogwood tree, and installing new landscaping next to the wall.

My project will be a benefit to the community because it will provide a central location to honor to local veterans, their service to our country and dedication to our local history. In addition, being located next door to the Flint Public Library, it will become a gathering place for the entire community. I see it being used for a number of ceremonies including Veterans Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day and any number of library and town events. Currently I am in the fundraising stage. The estimated cost of my project is approximately $5,000.
