Help Janelle Survive and Thrive

Janelle needs our help, and it’s URGENT.

Janelle is facing a dramatic medical crisis.

Without continued help she could die or lose consciousness at any time.

She has even started dealing with her Advanced Directive, just in case.

Janelle has been a true friend, advocate and community leader in her life. She has been deeply involved in working for social services, community event coordination, the creative arts and women's rights advocacy, helping the fire victims from the recent wildfires in her area (as well as losing her whole storage unit to a fire in 2020!)...Her commitment to healing and recovery is undeniable. No matter how much she has struggled, she is forever an optimist and is always focused on healing. The mind, heart, spirit, and this time, her body. Let us unite to help her get through this (we have all seen how this plays out in our current healthcare system).

Since moving to the Rogue Valley 5 years ago, she has been battling a mounting list of pulmonary and allergic diseases, including Small Airway Disease, acute reactive asthma, and dangerously low oxygen levels, all worsened by Ashland’s hazardous air quality, high levels of allergens, as well as elevation.

It was recently discovered by her pulmonologist that she has critically low oxygen levels and must be on supplemental oxygen several times a day. In addition, she can’t leave the house without portable oxygen equipment.

These issues impact her ability to do even basic tasks like housework without the risk of a severe reaction, and often impacts her cognitive function, including thinking, planning, even speaking.

Because of the increasing severity of these conditions, Janelle is unable to work consistently and will begin the process of applying for disability, which can take months.

Janelle has been putting on a brave face and working with specialists to stabilize, but has depleted her savings and needs support as she addresses this health and life crisis.

She now faces many new health and medical expenses and needs financial help to survive and thrive, specifically to pay for:

Living expenses (like rent and bills)

Medical expenses not covered by insurance

Eventual Relocation/moving costs

TO HELP MITIGATE ALLERGIES (which will go a long way towards recovery):

A new mattress, mattress cover, sheets, and pillows

A couple of new high-quality HEPA air filters

A professional top-to-bottom cleaning of her home to remove indoor allergens.

In addition to financial help, Janelle could also use some hands-on help:

Help with housekeeping, emotional support

Rides to doctor appointments

Printing and shipping prints of her photography so she can sell them online to be able to support herself in the future.

Eventually, Janelle will need to MOVE from Ashland to a healthier environment for her. (once she is stable and resourced enough). Ashland has some of the worst air quality in the US, plus it’s at 2,000 feet altitude, and she needs to prepare to leave before the next fire season. It will take time to do all the logistics and preparation; in her current state, Janelle just can’t do that. Right now, we need to focus on her going to her medical equipment, paying her bills and keeping her healthy until the time/place/opportunity arrives for her to move. We all know moving is costly. For now, we need to ensure our friend thrives and not just survives!
