Johnathan's Glioblastoma (Brain Cancer) Treatment

Donation protected
While I was sleeping on November 22, 2023 (the Day before Thanksgiving), I received a horrific call from my parents at about 2 am. My mom sounded as if she had been crying and stated that my brother Johnathan had been admitted to the Emergency Room in Sacramento, where he lives, and that they had found a Brain Tumor in his frontal lobe. After trying to digest this information, I saw myself driving to Sacramento with my parents at 3 am to be with my brother. Everyone was confused as my brother had always been healthy with no signs of a brain tumor. Once we arrived at the Hospital, we got led into a room where my brother and his husband were. They had obviously been crying and were very upset. We asked lots of questions, but in the end, they did not know much other than it was a “mass” in the frontal lobe of his brain and that he had been admitted due to confusion, vertigo, and nausea, which had led the ER staff to perform a cat scan, which ultimately showed the dark mass on his brain. After what seemed like an eternity and earlier in the morning on Thanksgiving, they transported him to a cancer facility in Carmichael to perform an MRI. Once the MRI was performed, they found that the “mass” was “probably” a Brain Tumor, and based on the preliminary MRI scan, they felt it was “probably” cancerous. We finally met with the Neurosurgeon and opted to have it removed through a Craniotomy on November 28 so that they could perform a biopsy.

Once the tumor was removed, my brother spent several more days in the Hospital and was finally discharged to home; my brother would have to wait a few weeks for the results of the Biopsy. On December 11, my brother was given his grim diagnosis. My brother was diagnosed with a High-Grade Glioma known as Glioblastoma (GBM). This is a very (most) aggressive and the deadliest Brain Cancer a person can be diagnosed with. Johnathan is strong and a survivor; he has already completed his first round of Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy and will have another six months of chemotherapy.

I know most people reading this do not know Johnathan, but if you ever did, you would remember him; he is a good, kind soul. He is a fantastic Uncle, Brother, Husband, and Human Being. My brother is my best friend, and I cannot imagine my world without him. Johnathan even created a blog Johns Blog to tell his story and give others hope because that is what kind of person he is. Johnathan loves to laugh and loves to spend time with his nephew at Disneyland. Johnathan and our family have a tough fight ahead of us, and at this time, the most helpful way to show your love and support is through a donation (no amount is too small).

Your donation will go toward the following expenses for Johnathan, Ernie, and their dog, Peanut:

• Medical bills
• Mental health support
• Groceries
• Cleaning service
• Dog walking service
• Alternative Therapy
• CoPays
• Medical Equipment

Thank you!! Anything helps and is appreciated.
