Join Myles' Fight for Sight and Health

Hello Family, Friends, and Community my name is Miki and I am starting this fundraiser for my dear friends Stephanie, Andrew, and their new sweet baby boy Myles.

On May 1st, 2024 we welcomed our first child and son into the world, Myles Gregory Milne.

Myles came into this world in a traumatic fashion via crash C-section that started at 3:27am and he was out by 3:27am (within 60sec) due to his heartrate dropping to an alarming rate. He came in weighing 5lb10oz and requiring mild resuscitation. Myles had some abnormalities at birth that none of the staff had seen before and was transferred to Phoenix Children’s Hospital NICU by ambulance shortly after. Due to mom having the flu she was not able to come to PCH with us because of exposer/contact precautions risk (because being sick, having the baby cut out of you and not being able to hold him or be with him wasn’t hard enough already…). Fortunately, Stephanie was released/discharged a day early and had no symptoms so was able to come to PCH (she has been an absolute trooper through this entire ordeal).

Myles had some breathing difficulties upon arrival and his oxygen saturation would drop requiring breathing assistance ranging from NIPPV to CPAP support. After consulting with every specialist at the hospital it seemed, sleepless nights and countless prayers we believe Myles has an exceedingly rare (50-85 cases diagnoses since 1970) genetic condition called ECCL or Encephalocraniocutaneous lipomatosis (I still can’t say properly yet).

Part of the condition effects the eyes and caused colobomas (nodules) to form on both of his eyelids and the cornea to not develop properly leading him to be born blind. Myles will require a cornea transplant from a specialist in California and eyelid reconstructive surgery at some point for a chance at sight.

As of today, May 9, 2024 we are happy to say Myles is stable and doing all of the things a normal newborn should be doing! Kicking, crying, pooping, peeing and still the wiggly guy he was in mom's belly!

There are still many questions and things unknown but one thing we know for certain is that he is dearly loved and well looked after. We are still adjusting to this new set of challenges but God has been good to us and the outreach from our family and friends has been profoundly humbling. We can already see how God is using him as a beacon to bring people together in prayer.

Many people have reached out asking how they can help and we have struggled to think of what that looks like and what would be the most beneficial for both us and our son. As hard as it is to ask for help the fact is right now, we are both on unpaid leave and we can use all the love, support and help we can get. If you feel so inclined, we will leave a couple links below if you would like to donate to help our family with food, bills, gas, medical or coffee, it is all greatly appreciated. Above all we ask that you continue to lift Myles up in prayer as we figure out what to do next. The easiest form to donate would be venmo or zelle.

And to anyone who thinks you’re bugging us, nagging us, annoying us, or bothering us in any way shape or form by sending us messages or asking how he’s doing or for updates please don’t! YOU are appreciated more than you know and a blessing in our lives. If we don’t respond right away just know that we will when we have the time and you’re not a bother at all.

It is with great pleasure Stephanie & I proudly announce the newest Milne into the world, our sweet baby boy Myles!!!
