Help with memorial expenses for my dad, Michael Burns

Never thought, or never wanted to, create this type of account. But I guess no one ever does. Life has been throwing some devastating punches and we just got to roll with them the best we can.

My name is Laura Gomez and I am creating this account on behalf of me and my family so that we can arrange final expenses for my dad, Michael Burns.

My dad first went to the hospital in late March of this year for some health complications. He was admitted and during his admission in early April, we learned of his diagnosis of colon cancer as well as lesions on his spine. He was then discharged to a skilled nursing facility where he was to build strength and follow up with outpatient treatment. Upon his follow up appointment, it was confirmed that the cancer had spread to his hips.

Unfortunately, he incurred more infections which led him in and out of the hospital two more times. We learned during his finally admission, that he also had lesions on his kidneys and the cancer had metastasized to his bone marrow.

His last hospital admission was June 7th. On June 13th, at 11:09 PM, I received a call from the hospital that my dad had passed.

My mom and I went to say our goodbyes and a chaplain prayed over my dad and for my family.

It has been a whirlwind and what has seemingly felt like forever now feels so sudden. My dad is no longer in pain which I am grateful for. But he is my dad and I miss him so much.

Because everything has happened so fast, I have not had time to plan everything and unfortunately, there was nothing already set up to help with final expenses. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your support during our time of need and we love you all.
