Meals for Healthcare Heroes

Similar to what took place in 2020, and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, one of our local hospitals is once again flooded with incoming patients. However, this time, they are faced with cases of RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus), Covid and flu. RSV causes colds and serious lung infections in people of all ages. Our hospitals are also seeing an increasing number of pediatric patients who are suffering from Covid-19 and the flu.

The City of Columbia, MO is extremely fortunate to have an abundance of healthcare providers in our midst. Yet, with the overwhelming number of individuals seeking healthcare assistance, staff are working double shifts and in some cases missing meals.

Columbia South Rotary has established a Go Fund Me site to raise funds for this important effort. Raised monies will be paid to local restaurants to prepare and deliver meals to MU Healthcare's Director of Dining and Nutrition who then facilitates the receipt and distribution of meals to medical staff. The four areas of the hospital impacted by a presently high inflow of patients are Pediatrics ICU, Pediatrics, Respiratory Therapy and Emergency Department.

Although we've all been asked by several organizations to donate to many causes this season, we are now faced with this particular situation. We are asking if you can donate and eventually send our message to at least 20 of your contacts who reside in Central Missouri. We'll need this type of support to have a successful program.
