Preserving American History
There are five identified signatures in this house. The men that wrote their names on these walls have forever linked us to the last weeks of the American Civil War.
We can walk into this house and envision wounded soldiers recovering in the second floor rooms; using the walls to write their names, draw characters, identify their hometowns. Placing themselves at a specific location in time. Allowing us, their children, a glimpse into their world in order to understand our own.
Unfortunately, this house is not preserved. These signatures may disappear and their names may be lost to history. Our children may not be able to find the same connection to their past if we do not act.
Please help us to raise the $3,500 needed to preserve this historical treasure.
