Karen Amann Talerico’s End of Life Fund
Donation protected
Karen’s battle with breast cancer is nearing the end, as the tumors have spread to her brain and continue to multiply. She made the decision this week to enter hospice care, so from now on the only treatments will be for comfort and symptom management.
Karen is an amazing person who has given selflessly throughout her life to family and friends, colleagues and clients, and even to people she didn’t know but could see they needed help. She has been the love of my life and has made me a better person, and has made this world a better place for many people. Her research is still cited and used to improve care for people with dementia, and she continues to be an inspiration to those around her.
I am trying to spend as much time with her as possible while I can. I have leave approved but have used all my PTO, so my time away from work is now unpaid. We can’t afford to have me out for very long. It is hard to ask for money when we are already more privileged than many people, but your support will allow me to stay home more to be with her while she is still with us. Funds will also support repairs to the front entrance ramp and a few other projects left over from the remodel that we had saved for but instead spent the money on our trip back east. We’ll also use the funds for little comforts, like ordering takeout when we’re too tired to cook.
Thank you to everyone who has been supporting us through this difficult journey.
