Keionzie and Troy's Recovery Fund

Donation protected

Help two Tompkins County community members survive a toxic rental and move onto safe, healthy housing ASAP. For those unfamiliar, Keionzie and Troy have been dealing with five months of toxic mold, no stove and no toilet— with their property manager, Judith Johnson, explicitly refusing maintenance. All they want to do is find a safe place to call home for themselves and their kitties. However, while they are constantly looking for new housing, availabilities are sparse. And while they still live in the apartment, disrepair has a price- their stove has been broken for months, making them unable to cook. Funds will cover food, eventual moving costs and whatever else they need.

Keionzie and Troy are looking forward to being able to focus on building their life after this awful situation. Read the full exposé about what they've had to deal with here .

The couple is looking at legal recourse, but these abuses rarely make it to court— current law strongly favors the landowner in situations of neglect and abuse. They're not the type of people to ask for help- but what we as a community can provide them is mutual aid. So let's ease their way, and support these two as they rebuild their life.
