Kelly Rugar recover from extensive surgery.

Hello!! My name is Debra, a close friend of Kelly Rugar. We met in Brooklyn and were neighbors in Greenpoint and now neighbors again in Portland, Oregon.

I have created this go fund me to support our favorite little baddie Kelly Rugar as she recovers from extensive surgery. If you haven’t worked with Kelly over the years she’s probably made you a drink or ten at one of the many bars she’s hailed from across Brooklyn.

Kelly relocated from Denver to Portland earlier this year to be closer to friends and family but found herself becoming increasingly more sick and in bodily pain as she settled into Portland. Fortunately, she was able to find an amazing doctor who advocated for her and took multiple steps in her diagnosis. Kelly was finally able to receive surgery on September 30th. Her surgery revealed multiple large fibroids in her uterus as well as extensive endometriosis that doctors removed. Most concerning was a 13cm cyst that had absorbed her ovary and Fallopian tube, causing kidney blockage and distress. Doctors were able to remove the cyst and had to take her right ovary as well. Immediately her kidneys were restored to better function and are continuing to improve!

Kelly will have to be out of work for the next month to slowly recover and heal. Preceding surgery, Kelly discovered that while Oregon Family Leave protects her position at work she did not qualify for any sick time. Due to our broken system Kelly is left with zero incoming income. Funds that are collected will go to pay her basic living expenses such as rent, utilities and groceries.
