Kevin's Open Heart Surgery Recovery Help

On Friday, February 21, 2020 our Dad went through open heart surgery to have his aortic valve replaced due to a congenital heart defect that went undetected from birth. He started experiencing shortness of breath, extreme fatigue and other symptoms prompting him to go see his physician. After tests were run it was determined that he would need this surgery.
The surgery went well and his cardiac surgeon was able to put in a mechanical aortic valve and he is recovering at Avera Heart Hospital in the ICU. Today (02/23/2020) he had to have a blood transfusion due to blood loss from the surgery.
His recovery is going to be long. He will be in the hospital for about week and then will be discharged to home. Once home he can’t be left alone for the first month and will be unable to drive for two months. This means in addition to his loss of income (he is self employed) they will also lose Diane's during this time.
The out of pocket medical bills for this surgery even with insurance will be in the thousands of dollars. It will be months before Dad is able to return to work, so the monthly expenses will be a factor also.
We are asking all of our family and friends to please help them during this very stressful time. There are a couple options to do this.
