Kidney For Paula Fundraiser
I was diagnosed with Crohn's, an autoimmune disease, at age 11. If you would ask anyone I know they would say "Paula is an extraordinary human being, full of strength, love, care and always puts her family and friends first".
For most of my life, I have defied the odds by living a healthy lifestyle. I have always kept a positive attitude. Recently, the autoimmune disease has affected my kidneys and am currently at 7% kidney function. Testing revealed that my arteries are too narrow for dialysis. Due to multiple surgeries and complication for most of my life, I am considered a high risk candidate and thus, have been rejected for the deceased kidney donor list.
However, the surgeons have agreed to work with me if i can find a LIVE KIDNEY DONOR for the match exchange. Someone will donate their kidney into the "pool" and then I will be matched with a compatible kidney donor, even if they are not a direct match.
Some of the donor's medical expenses are not covered by insurance, e.g., lodging and travel obligations.
I am asking at this vulnerable time in my life to help me take on this challenge. Anything you may donate to help with the medical expenses will be truly appreciated. A little goes a long way and can help alleviate the stress of monetary issues.
Please spread the word. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
