Kids Helping Dennis ( A Disabled Army Veteran )

Donation protected

Hi everyone,
We are a group of kids (#KidsHelpingOurVeterans) ( ages from 11-15 years old) ( both boys and girls) that helps homeless men and women veterans here in our community.

We’ve made it our mission to help veterans since July 23, 2019, by raising money through donations on social media, by fundraising ourselves throughout our community, receiving donations of hygiene items, toiletries, and food items, to help those veterans in need.

Since we started #KidsHelpingOurVeterans we have helped many homeless veterans  throughout our community, by putting together care packages which include hygiene items, toiletries, non perishable food items, and brought those items directly to those veterans ourselves.

Just a few months ago right before Christmas, we helped a 76 year old disabled Air Force veteran named Alton, (who was homeless due to a house fire), by raising enough money, with help from our supporters on Twitter, to get him an apartment complete with furniture, a Christmas tree plus presents, and all of the household items needed, for him to start all over. And to this day, he is doing just fine.

We also had two other fundraisers not to long ago, in which we raised enough money to purchase 100 Thanksgiving meals prepared by Publix, so that we could feed homeless veterans, and also brought meals to one of our local American Legion posts,

The other fundraiser was when we raised $3,000.00 to buy Christmas gifts for about 120 elderly veterans, at one of our local veterans living facilities, and that event was a total success.

Just recently we stopped by a homeless shelter, and we ran across a veteran, his name is Dennis Weaver, as he was waiting to get accepted into the shelter.

He gave us all of his information needed to confirm that he is a veteran, and with the help of Dr. Cindy of Code of Vets, she confirmed that he is in the system.

Dennis enlisted in the Army at around the age of 18,  he served two tours, (Iraq and Afghanistan), for a total of 8 years combined.

He is a disabled veteran, due to the fact that he got hit by a drunk driver, and he is now partially paralyzed on his left side, has minor brain damage, pins in his neck, and is now in a wheelchair for the rest of his life.

He has been homeless for sometime now because he was staying at a living facility, and themoney that he gets from SSDI has run out, plus he has back payments to pay for child support, and he is left with basically not enough money to survive.

All of his personal belongings, ID, and bank card, has either been lost or stolen, due to beinghomeless on the streets.

With help from Dr. Cindy, we are trying to get his DD214 and other paperwork from one of his family members sent to us, because he has currently has no address for it to be sent to.
After we receive his paperwork, we are going
to help him get his ID, and bank card back.

In the meantime Dennis is still homeless.

We are doing our best to help him with food, clothing, hygiene items, and we even got him an inexpensive prepaid phone, so that he can keep in touch with us, while we try to work allof this out.

Our goal in the meantime is to get him into an inexpensive apartment or efficiency for 6 months to possibly a year, so that he is safe, has a roof over his head, and a bed to sleep on, rather than sleeping in his wheelchair behind buildings, and nowhere to go during the day or night.

The shelter only allows you three nights, and he has reached that limit.

So we are creating this gofundme just for Dennis. We are hoping to raise enough funds to get him a place to live until he can get back on his feet, ( that’s just a figure of speech).

We are currently in the process of looking for a place for him to live.
Our goal is to raise the funds necessary to get him a place to call home, and off of the streets.

So we are asking,

If at all possible, would you please be able to make a donation to help Dennis?

Or at least help us to get this campaign noticed by others, in hopes that someone could help this veteran.

He doesn’t deserve to be homeless.
He needs our help.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read our message, and let’s pray for Dennis

God bless , and thank you from all of us at
