Help us build an Indie Radio Station!
Uphill Media (UHM) is a nonprofit that helps people and organizations create and publish civics-related content. You might remember us as Bernie2016TV, or Political Revolution TV. We were the first indie network to broadcast Bernie Sanders rallies 7 days a week. We’ve produced thousands of hours of civics-related content on YouTube.
Unfortunately, YouTube isn’t friendly with indie content providers. We have no way to play political speech or great music without the risk of losing the channel to a copyright strike. That’s because YouTube protects corporate interests over freedom of speech and the press. So…we need a different medium.
We have the opportunity to own 105.9 KORC FM, a radio station license in Corvallis, Oregon - home of Oregon State University. The license is currently held by the nonprofit Veterans for Peace , who have graciously gifted it to us. UHM has agreed to take over the license and complete the build of a station with a studio in Corvallis.
The license is for educational use only, not commercial. There will be no advertisements! The content will be civics, related news and music. KORC is part of a network of nonprofit radio stations in rural areas of the West Coast. Our content will be distributed across these stations as well as on the Internet,.
We need your help to buy the station gear and build the studio at a location we have already secured in downtown Corvallis. It’s a perfect place for a studio, and we will be able to broadcast to the street.
The station gear is owned by Open Sky Radio (OSR) , a nonprofit that helps other nonprofits buy, build and run radio stations. UHM will sign a contract with OSR to help us set up the station (antenna and gear placement on the roof), build a studio and grow the station. They have successfully done this with lots of other organizations, so we’re eager to make this happen.
We need $30,000 to do the following:
- Buy the station gear and enter the contract with OSR
- Cover ongoing monthly overhead for 1 year, including licensing fees
- Buy gear to build the downtown Corvallis studio
- Build a website for KORCFM.com
- Engage in marketing for KORCFM.com
- Produce content with YOU!

Our goal is to provide a platform to produce and enjoy quality independent news and music without copyright or censorship issues. We’ve got lots of experience producing content with others. Now, we can do that without censorship.
